Studying Martial arts for 18 years now. Shantal has a wide range of experience and knowledge through the competition scene and in the arts on offer at the gym.
Having spent years training and competing in each art she understands truly the arts values, weaknesses and practicality levels.
Shantal is the person to talk to if you’re unsure what martial art is suitable for you.
She is a devoted passionate teacher with 10 years teaching/ coaching experience. When not teaching at the gym Shantal works for schools, government and other organisations providing self defence training and confidence building.
Shantal trains daily with an array of different and highly experienced martial artists and champions. She is a big believer in continuous learning and self-improvement and development.
Her current Coaches and Mentors are:
Hapkido: Grand Master Nils Onsaga 7th Dan and Master Melissa Johnson 5th Dan
Taekwondo: Master Gabriel Estay 7th Dan Kukkiwon Taekwondo and & 7th Dan Hapkido
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Professor Anker Fugslang
Muay Thai: Eric Anthony & Natasha Anthony
Currently she holds the following ranks: 3rd Dan Hapkido, 4th Dan (Master) Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt.
Shantal has competed in the following Martial Arts and here are some of her accomplishments.
Taekwondo: Poomsae at a State, Australian and International Level. Winning Gold, Silver and Bronze
ISKA: Held State Titles for Point Sparring for Queensland
BJJ: Competed in many competitions including the Pan Pacs as a blue belt and has won Gold.
Muay Thai 1F 1L - still working on this goal.
Shantal is also working with the KYUP! Project and is a qualified workshop presenter working on domestic violence prevention and education.
